Chocolate Bayou Pump Station and Intake Structure

Client: Gulf Coast Water Authority (GCWA)
Location: Alvin, TX

The new pump station is to deliver 50,000 GPM with four pumps operating. The project scope included the design of wing walls (up to 33 feet tall) of the intake structure under hydrostatic and soil pressures. Aurora performed structural analysis and designed a buttress cantilever wall structure to minimize the wall thickness while sustaining structure stability. We also recommended the scope for slope stability analyses and verified bank stability for the intake to ensure long-term performance.
