Dr. Meng Liu has more than fifteen years of experience in the research and practice of structural engineering. He joined Aurora in April 2017 and is the structural lead and supports a variety of infrastructure projects. He has conducted risk assessments of tunnel excavations and their impacts on existing structures and underground pipelines. He tackles challenges in pipeline design such as fault crossings, and aerial crossings. In addition, he designed a variety of earth-retaining structures for roadways, pump stations, deep excavations, and other underground structures. He is currently leading the effort of condition assessment of water and wastewater treatment plants. His research focuses on the repair and rehabilitation of steel structures using fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP), pipe-soil interactions, and structural reliability.
