Client: City of Huntsville
Location: Huntsville, TX
This project involves the installation of approximately 1,400 linear feet of 12-inch water line (WL), 4,000 linear feet of 8-inch WL, and 47 service connections along the City of Huntsville right-of-way through residential neighborhoods and near the TDCJ Facility. Aurora’s scope includes both design and construction phase services. The project addresses factors such as the aging condition of the existing infrastructure, frequent repair issues, and operational maintenance needs, while also focusing on improving water quality, ensuring compliance with fire protection standards, aligning with Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) regulations, and accommodating future developments. Aurora prepared the construction drawings as part of the design phase.
Key challenges include ensuring fire hydrants are placed every 500 feet to meet city standards and maneuvering the water line to be under 4 feet from pavement while maintaining at least 2 feet of clearance from crossing utility lines. In some cases, the water line may need to be installed deeper due to city regulations. Another challenge is preserving residential driveways to minimize disruption to the community during construction.
